Boat Launches
In Lewiston, go up Lincoln Street, heading away from Centreville/Main Street, and two things will happen.
First, you’ll see Gaslight Park, an amazingly quaint little park with a great view of the Androscoggin River and beautiful landscaping. Once a very polluted industrial site, it is now stunning and is one of the newest – and best — picnic sites in the Twin Cities.
Secondly, if you continue a short ways, you will arrive at a boat launch that is often overlooked by most people. A paddle along the peaceful Androscoggin River is a treat, as many local canoe and kayak enthusiasts – not to mention organizers of the annual Source to the Sea event – have discovered.
In Auburn, Lake Auburn offers a boat launch as well along Route 4. Most of this stunning lake is open to boating, and is a joy to paddle along.
